Know Before You Onboard: Structured Credit Investigation in Dimensions for Financing

Every bad loan was once an approved application. The difference between a healthy portfolio and a troubled one is usually decided before the first payment is  ever due — at the moment a lender chooses to accept an applicant as a  customer. Dimensions for Financing treats that moment as a formal, structured  step rather than a judgment call scribbled on a form.

Its  Credit Investigation feature runs before an applicant becomes a customer.  Initiated directly from the proposal computation, it turns credit evaluation  into a repeatable process with a clear, auditable trail — so the same rigor  applies to every applicant, not just the ones a loan officer happens to  scrutinize.

What the  investigation captures

Rather  than a single credit score, the process assembles a complete picture of the  applicant:

•  Applicant and co-maker details —  personal information, dependents, references, and co-maker requirements  captured once and carried forward automatically into the financing  application.

•  Financial overview — monthly  income, expenses, and other deductions, with total and net available monthly  income computed automatically so affordability is visible at a glance.

•  Credit history — existing loans,  owned real estate, and motor vehicles, each with status and mortgage  detail.

•  Verification highlights — area  assessment and residence verification, including whether the finding is based  on an actual site visit.

Scoring  that reflects your own criteria

The  investigation applies a configurable credit rating template. Each  sub-criterion is rated, weighted, and rolled up into an overall credit rating  and status — the thresholds and weightings are yours to define, so the model  encodes your institution’s risk appetite rather than a generic formula. Two  levels of judgment are recorded: the credit investigator’s recommendation,  and a separate manager’s evaluation.

The gate  that protects the book

The  most important control is optional but powerful: the system can be configured  to require a passed Credit Investigation before a business account can be  extended into a customer. Turn it on, and only applicants who clear your  credit criteria can enter the book at all. The evaluation stops being  advisory and becomes a genuine gate — and because it lives in the same  platform as the ledger, every decision is traceable from application to  amortization.
